2017 Year in Book Review

A few weeks (perhaps months) ago I discovered Farah's booktube channel and followed her on YouTube and Instagram. She created her own book tag for the end of the year 2017 and I am going to answer her questions!

1. First ever female Doctor Who: Favorite female protagonist
Judy from "Dear Daddy Long-Legs" written by Jean Webster is a confident, creative and kind young woman! I could not help but fall in love with her. Reading her letters was a great pleasure for me!

2. GCC Cuts Ties with Qatar: An author you cut ties with
Jonathan Stroud. I read "Bartimaeus - The Amulet of Samarkand" this year and it bored me to death... and Nathanael was an idiot. I really, really disliked him! So, yeah. No more books written by Jonathan Stroud.

3. La La Land Oscar Mix-Up: A book that surprised you
"Befreiungsschlag" by Stefan Gemmel, a German author. I was worried the book would be a disappoinment, because it isn't fantasy and about violent, aggressive teenagers and their way out of it. But surprise! I loved it!

4. Hurricanes and Earthquakes: A book that rocked your world
"Vicious" written by the wonderful V. E. Schwab. Such a super-villainous read and I am freaking excited for the sequel!

5. Louvre Abu Dhabi: Favorite book cover art
The cover of "Beren and Lúthien" and the illustrations by Alan Lee are just incredibly stunning!

6. Da Vinci's Salvator Mundi sells for $450m: A-TAKE-MY-MONEY book
"A Darker Shade of Magic - The Collector's Edition" by V. E. Schwab. It's signed, it has fan art, an interview between author and editor (I believe) and extra content! Yesss, take all my money!

7. Total Eclipse: Sequel that overshadows the first book
In a negative way? "Glass Sword" by Victoria Aveyard. To my mind it's even worse than its prequel.

8. Muslim Ban: Favorite diverse read
I read quite many diverse and really good books this year! Soooo, "The Upside of Unrequited" written by Becky Albertalli! It's about a fat, self-conscious girl named Molly whose parents are two moms and who has a lesbian twin sister. I can tell you that I already loved the book after the first twenty pages!

9. Italy doesn't qualify for World Cup: Most disappointing read
"A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas. Yeah, I love the "Throne of Glass" series, but this was just a disappointment. The protagonist gets sexually harassed, is naive and the second half was quite predictable. I am not going to continue this series.

10. Prince Harry in love: Favorite ship
Blue and Simon from the book "Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda" also written by Becky Albertalli. These two boys are so cuuuute! *-*

11. Star Wars The Last Jedi: Most anticipated read/buy
I guess "Wonder Woman" by Leigh Bardugo. I pre-ordered it to get the first print with the poster of Diana! ^^ It was my first book by Leigh Bardugo and about my favorite DC superhero Diana <3 so I had to! XD

I tag Anabelle (who corrected my English in this blog post ^^) (Stehlblüten), Julia (Lizoyfanes) and Nina (Ninas verrückte Ekstase)
